Christina Callahan

Christina Callahan is an active flutist, educator, and arts administrator based in Northern Virginia. Originally from New Jersey, she relocated to Virginia to pursue graduate studies with Jonathan Snowden, former principal flutist of the London Philharmonic Orchestra. She earned both her Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from Shenandoah Conservatory, where she also served as the flute studio teaching assistant.
Christina performs with the Capital Wind Symphony and freelances throughout the region. She has also served as an adjudicator for Virginia All-District Band auditions and the Flute Society of Washington’s Mid-Atlantic Flute Convention.
Taking an individualized approach to instruction, Christina incorporates each student’s interests and goals into lessons. Her students have performed at Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center, and have earned positions in local youth orchestras, flute choirs, and All-District Bands.
A certified yoga teacher, Christina enjoys integrating mindfulness and movement into both her teaching and personal practice. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Rowan University and began her career as a middle school band director in Camden, NJ.
