Early Childhood Music (Infant to five years) is an outreach program conducted on site at the Piedmont Childcare Center, which presents a specially designed curriculum for the childcare center. Children explore sounds, rhythms, and music patterns through songs, movement, and instrumental play. This program of ten classes is offered several times per year.
PCCC has partnered with CMSP, for almost 20 years, since 2005. CMSP provides an on-site "Early
Childhood Music" program for our children. There are four quarterly sessions which provide
developmentally age-appropriate weekly music lessons for our four classrooms of children. This
program has been incredibly popular and and successful with families and children.
In the summer of 2023, CMSP greatly expanded the Early Childhood Music Program to increase
the amount of music instruction the PCCC children receive each week.
The goal of the expanded program, Nurtured by Music is to use music to enhance a child's
healthy development across many levels, including cognitive, physical, social, emotional,
sensory, and school readiness.
There are 2 classes each week. CMSP charges PCCC parents for 1 class and funds the second
class through scholarships for our children. We are deeply appreciative of this support. PCCC is
able to provide a highly valuable program to children.
Thanks to our long-standing and expanding relationship with CMSP, PCCC continues to be able
to provide valuable music instruction to our diverse student population. We whole-heartedly
endorse them for their excellent and enduring work.
