About the Instrument Petting Zoo
In this exciting and interactive program, we're bringing the joy of music education to students in a fun and engaging way. Our goal is to familiarize students with wind and string instruments, giving them the opportunity to explore and discover the sounds of these instruments for themselves.
Through the Instrument Petting Zoo, students have the chance to touch, feel, and play real instruments in a safe and supportive environment. With guidance from our experienced instructors, they can learn how to properly hold and play each instrument, and even try their hand at creating their own melodies.

CMSP Announces Winner of 2023 Katherine Jameson Scholarship
CMSP is pleased to announce that Sophia Long is the winner of our 2023 Katherine Jameson Piano scholarship, named for CMSP’s first piano teacher, who taught at the Community Music School of the Piedmont for nearly 20 years.
Sophia is a 12th grader enrolled at Fauquier High School in Warrenton, VA. In the eleven years she has studied piano, Sophia found a deep connection to her music.
In her essay, Sophia wrote that studying with Mr. George Bowerman has taught her how to practice efficiently, memorize music, and refine a piece. She looks forward to sharing the beauty of music at upcoming performances and with her own future students!
Congratulations Sophia!!!
