FLUTE, PICCOLO, OBOE, CLARINET & SAX

Andrea Diggs earned her MM and BM in Flute Performance from Shenandoah University Conservatory. She also received training
at the Pierre Monteux School for Conductors and Orchestra Musicians in Hancock, ME, and at the Orchestral Flute Institute, Detroit,
MI. Ms. Diggs has extensive performance experience and has won numerous awards in flute and piccolo  performance. Ms. Diggs
teaches private flute and piccolo lessons, as well as Music Together.

AJ Ikner is pursuing a Masters of Arts Management at Shenandoah University. She received a Masters of Music Performance-
Woodwind Specialist from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. AJ received her Bachelor of Art in Music from Kutztown
University, PA. She was Woodwinds Professor at Campbell University, NC, and taught Music Literature and Music Appreciation as
well. Mrs. Ikner conducted the Campbell University Woodwind Ensemble and developed a curriculum for a Woodwind Methods
class. She has is an active performer, and has played with the North Carolina Symphony Orchestra, the North Carolina Mozart
Festival, and the Durham Symphony. She was the Festival Coordinator for Shenandoah University Historical and Tourism Center.

Ed St. John began his musical journey playing trumpet. He studied with several top New York musician including Harold
Lieberman, Charles Sullivan, and the incomparable Steve Lampert, who is still a guiding force. He later switched to saxophone,
continuing his studies and playing in a variety of settings including big bands, saxophone quartets, and combos of various sizes.
Along with Tim Grant, Ed founded The Intrepid Jazz Project in 1999. In addition to performing, Ed teaches sax, flute and clarinet in
Front Royal, Manassas, and at CMSP. For more information on The Intrepid Jazz Project:

PERCUSSION

Nate Panning attended Virginia Tech and has had an active career as a percussion teacher and performer. Currently he is the
Band Director at the Seton School in Manassas, VA. He is a member of
The Intrepid Jazz Quartet, Woodshed, a classic rock
band,
SingCo. Rhythm Orchestra, and Rob Hornfeck Enterprise, an orginal fusion/ progressive rock band. He has been a
member of the CMSP faculty for two years.


PIANO & ORGAN

Heather Ankerbrand holds a BM in piano from Grove City College, as well as an MM in Church Music from Shenandoah
University. She is currently a DMA candidate in Organ Performance at Shenandoah University.  Ms. Ankerbrand has been teaching
piano and organ with CMSP since 2005.  She also works as a church organist and a choir director. In addition to her musical
pursuits, she enjoys reading, knitting, and rollerblading.

Eberle Damron received a BA in Music from Queen’s College, Charlotte, NC. Ms. Damron did graduate work at Catholic University,
Washington DC, and at Westminster Choir College, Princeton, NJ. She received a Graduate Certification in Eurhythmics,
Improvisation and Solfege from the Dalcroze Music Institute, NY. Ms. Damron has been a private piano instructor for the past
sixteen years. She teaches Rhythm and Movement classes and piano at CMSP.

Anna Grant studied at Eastern Mennonite University and received a BA in Music. She has taught General Music and Chorus in
Warren County Public Schools, and received a Rotarian Award for Excellence in Educating Youth. Mrs. Grant trained as a Music
Together instructor, and conducts music classes for very young children and their parents or caregivers. She is also a piano
instructor at CMSP.

Mark William Egger received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Virginia and studied piano with Willis Bennett.
Mr. Egger has been teaching Suzuki piano with CMSP since 1995, and received Suzuki piano training with Yasuko Joichi and Sue
Vasquez. He also plays the piano accordion, particularly Irish and old-time country dance music, and plays around with the five-
string banjo. In his spare time you might find him playing basketball, reading, pursuing historical or genealogical interests, or
learning Spanish.

Katherine Jameson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from the
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  She has taught piano at CMSP from its earliest years! She has also taught music at
Wakefield School in The Plains, specializing in early childhood music. She was also the director of the middle school handbell
choir for many years.  She is currently Music Director and organist at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Delaplane, Virginia.

Doria St. John attended Westminster Choir College, Princeton, NJ, where she received her BA in Music Education. She is also a
certified Montessori teacher, and has received training in Kodaly. Mrs. St. John teaches voice and piano at CMSP.


VIOLIN, VIOLA, CELLO & FIDDLE

Cruz Taylor Almao holds a Graduate Performance Diploma from the Peabody Conservatory, where he studied with David Hardy,
principal cellist of the National Symphony. He is currently pursuing a DMA at Shenandoah University, where he received his BM
and MM in Cello Performance. Mr. Almao was a competition winner in the Bach Handel Festival at Shenandoah University. He has
participated in numerous festival and chamber music/cello competitions. Mr. Almao has been trained as a Suzuki cello instructor.  
A native of Venezuela, Mr. Almao teaches cello and chamber music, as well as serving on the CMSP Board as Faculty
Representative.  

Stephen Arnold is currently a candidate for DMA from Shenandoah University. Mr. Arnold earned his BM and MM in Viola
Performance from Shenandoah University, and has received Suzuki teacher training. His extensive performance experience
includes playing with the Roanoke and Maryland Symphonies, as well as his string quartet,
The Giovane Players.

Laura Cullinane teaches fiddle, violin, and viola, and has been with CMSP since 2007. Mrs. Cullinane earned a BM in Music
Education from George Mason University,and taught for several years with Fairfax County Public Schools. She has performed with
traditional Irish groups and celtic rock bands in a variety of festivals and stages, from sidewalks to the Kennedy Center, on both
sides of the Atlantic. She has also a trained Music Together instructor. In her non-musical life she enjoys gardening and spending
time with her chickens.

Nora Gump teaches violin and viola with CMSP. She received her B.M. and M.M. in Viola Performance from the University of North
Carolina School of the Arts, and she is currently working towards her DMA in Viola Performance at Shenandoah Conservatory,
where she studies with Ms. Doris Lederer. An exciting and versatile violist as well as an avid performer, Ms. Gump has won
numerous scholarships and awards for her solo, chamber and orchestral abilities.

Alan Saucedo is currently a candidate for a DMA in Cello Performance at Shenandoah Conservatory, where he received his MM in
Cello Performance in 2003. In 2006, he did graduate performance work under Luis Claret in Barcelona, Spain. Alan received a BM
in Cello Performance, with a minor in Piano Performance from Escuela Superior de Musica, Monterrey, Mexico. He is a member of
the
Vitali String Quartet, which performed at the White House in 2004. Currently he performs with the Loudoun Symphony and the
Maryland Symphony. Alan performed at the Audubon String Quartet Seminar in Blacksburg, VA and toured with the Cello 12
Ensemble in Mexico and Brazil.

Cynthia Saucedo earned a MM is Violin Performance at Shenandoah University Conservatory and is scheduled to receive her MM
in Violin Pedagogy in 2006. A native of Monterrey, Mexico, she began her violin studies at the Superior School of Music in
Monterrey. In January 2006 she won the Shenandoah Conservatory Concerto Competition and had her solo debut with the
orchestra in March of that year. Ms Saucedo teaches violin at CMSP and works with the “After School Music” program in local
public and private schools.


HARP

Sylvia McClain received a Bachelor of Music Degree in Harp and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music from Birmingham-Southern
College. In addition, she studied harp at The Salzedo School in Camden, Maine, Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, Italy, and
the National Music Camp at Interlochen, Michigan. Ms. McClain has won awards and honors in the  national competitions of the
American Harp Society, and the Musicians’ Club of New York. She was harpist of the Blossom Festival School of the Cleveland
Orchestra where she performed under the direction of Pierre Boulez.  In 2005 Sylvia was the featured soloist with the Loudoun
Symphony. She is the principal harpist of the LSO and teaches harp at CMSP.


GUITAR

Jan Edmondson teaches guitar and directs the Ashburn Girls Guitar Ensemble (A.G.G.E.). Bio coming soon!

Todd Holcomb recently earned his Master's degree from the Peabody Institute of Music, and received his Bachelor's in Guitar
Performance at Shenandoah Conservatory. He has been an Adjunct Guitar Instructor at Old Dominion University, and has
performed as a soloist with the Shenandoah Conservatory and Old Dominion University Guitar Ensembles. He attended the First
World Guitar Congress, and participated in Master Class performances with Eliot Fisk, William Anderson, and lutenist Ronn
McFarlane. He actively performs as a soloist and as a member of
The Visione Trio, an ensemble consisting of two flutes and
guitar, who were finalists at the 2009 J. C. Arriaga Chamber Music Competition.

Joseph Ikner is pursuing a DMA in Guitar Performance at Shenandoah Conservatory. He earned his MM in Guitar Performance
from East Carolina University, where he was the recipient of the St. Cecelia Guitar Scholarship. Mr. Ikner has performed in
numerous regional, state and national competitions. He was selected to perform for a program at the Majesty of the Guitar in
Spain Exhibition, which was recorded and aired on National Public Radio. Mr. Ikner has also been a Guest Artist and Adjudicator
at several Guitar Festivals in North Carolina and Pennsylvania. He teaches guitar at Mercer Middle School in Loudoun County, VA
and at CMSP.

Jon Signorelli received his BM in Guitar Performance at the Crane School of Music at the State University of New York at Potsdam.
He was an Adjunct Instructor at St. Lawrence University, Canton, NY, and has taught private lessons for the past five years.  From
2003 to 2005 Jon was selected as a Presidential Scholar. He designed and organized The New Music for Guitar Festival which
presented newly composed student guitar works. He received the Crane Talent Scholarship from the Crane School of Music, as
well as the Northern Lights Scholarship from SUNY Potsdam. Currently he is a Guitar Instructor at Loudoun County HS in
Leesburg, VA.

Hart Wells holds a Bachelor's in Music Education from Appalachian State University, where he was awarded a North Carolina
Teaching Fellows Scholarship. He directed the guitar program at Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute in Hudson,
NC, and taught elementary general music in his native North Carolina. An active performer and educator, Mr. Wells has performed
in masterclasses with Oscar Ghiglia, Eduardo Fernandez, and Stanley Yates, among others. He is currently the director of guitar
studies for Potomac Falls High School in Sterling, VA, and has been teaching guitar at CMSP since 2007.

Sam Wong received his Bachelor of Music in Guitar Performance from the North Carolina School of the Arts and the Master of
Music in Guitar Performance from Florida State University. He has appeared in concerts in England, Germany, Italy, France and
the United States and has been an adjudicator for the Florida State Music Teachers National Association Collegiate Classical
Guitar Competition in both the state and regional divisions. He has served on the music faculties of Troy University, Alabama State
University and the Booker T. Washington Magnet High School in Montgomery, Alabama, and his students have won prizes in many
competitions including the Columbus State Guitar Symposium Competition, the Snead State Competition and the ARTS
Competition.


VOICE

Marlene Baldwin earned her BM at the University of Maryland, and has been teaching music to singers of all ages for many years,
including two decades of teaching choral music in Montgomery County Schools. Specializing in music performance, she founded
and has continued to direct the Baldwin Music Theater Camp for the last 12 years.  An active singer, she has performed in several
choral groups, including Winchester Musica Viva, Voce, Washington Choral Arts Society, as well as numerous church choirs
where she has served as soloist, organist and director. She has adjudicated numerous vocal competitions including NATS
District and Regional Auditions, the Bland scholarship competitions, Virginia District Choir Auditions, Maryland All-State Choir
Auditions and Maryland Show Choir Competitions. She has been teaching with CMSP since 1996.

Doria St. John attended Westminster Choir College, Princeton, NJ, where she received her BA in Music Education. She is also a

Patricia Wulf received a BM from Catholic University, Washington DC. She is a mezzo-soprano who has performed extensively
with the Washington Opera, Opera Carolina, the Sarasota Opera, Baltimore Opera and the Spoleto Festival USA. She has
performed roles from Tebaldo in
Don Carlo to Musetta in La Boheme. Ms. Wulf teaches voice at CMSP.


EARLY CHILDHOOD MUSIC & MUSIC THERAPY

Jennifer Barker is the lead instructor for Music Together at CMSP. She has been teaching this program for very young children
and their parents or caregivers for the past five years. Mrs. Barker attended a teacher training seminar in order to be certified to
teach Music Together. She received her BA in Art History and Photography from Sarah Lawrence College, New York. Mrs. Barker
worked on the curatorial team restoring the Texas Capitol in Austin. She has also been a gallery administrator for The Eleonore
Austerer Gallery in San Francisco.

Miho Sato is a Master’s candidate in Music Therapy at Shenandoah University, and has been a Music Therapist for the past four
years. She has a wide range of experience in the field of Music Therapy and has worked with people of all ages from very young
children to the elderly. Her special area of interest is autism. A native of Tokyo, she received a BA in Voice Performance from
Musashino Music University in Tokyo. She also earned a BS in Music Therapy from Shenandoah University. Ms. Sato provides
Music Therapy for CMSP students. In addition, she teaches piano and leads the CMSP Music Program at The Piedmont Childcare
Center in Upperville, VA.


STAFF

Martha Cotter, Executive Director, received a BA from The George Washington University in Washington, DC and a MA from
University College, Dublin, Ireland. She worked as a Trust Investment Officer for First Fidelity Bank in New Jersey and as a Vice
President of Investments for Bank America in Virginia. She has been Executive Director of the Community Music School of the
Piedmont for 12 years.
